the amount of ass you kick is unbelievable. Hurray to not studying!

Hahaha.

Thanks : ). I’ve been having trouble focusing anyhow… might as well search for stunning girls instead of memorizing the patronage of 3/4 of Northern and Italian Renaissance Art, right?

Look who I found on Tumblr... Follow her please!!→

Well well well… a very interesting blog was recently brought to my attention by a mutual follower. It seems one of my VERY stunning models has found her way to Tumblr. In her own words “You started this tumblr thing for me, you know. At first, I was just looking at the pics you posted, then I started wandering around, well, you know how it goes.” I can’t tell you how excited I am that she’s blogging her beauty. The woman has curves that will blow your mind. The first time I saw her naked I was literally taken aback.

She is one of the most intelligent and breathtaking women I have ever met, and I’m glad she’s sharing that with the Tumblr community. Now I just need to get back into the same state so I can shoot some new pics of her amazing figure.

Gentlemen beware, this beauty is not for the faint of heart. :-)

See my photos of curvydelight HERE.

And please, follow her and share her stunning figure with your followers too!

I'm sure you get asked this a lot. Can you talk about what it's been like doing intimate photography? Your pictures are beautiful. Does it take time for people to get comfortable enough for good shots? Do you have strategies to put people at ease and get them into their zone? Do you always feel relaxed in those moments?
Thanks for sharing your work. I hope we get to see more!

Actually briskbeauty, you are the first person to ask me this question. Sorry it took so long for me to respond, I’ve been babysitting a snarky little 7 year old these past months… and my dashboard is hardly kid friendly :-)

Now as to answer your query: a few things you should now about me.

1. This is by no means my specialty or my usual subject matter.

2. I only just started doing intimate photography last October.

3. I have never photographed “models.” Everyone you see here is someone either I know personally, or someone my client knows personally.

4. Believe it or not, I would in no way, shape or form consider myself a professional erotic photographer (even though, by definition, I am.)

First off, thank you so much for the compliments. They really do mean a great deal to me. I’m glad you enjoy my work. I can give you the basic in and out of what I do (har har) with three examples. These will give you a pretty clear look at the broad range of experiences you can have in this particular type of photography.

Example One: My first photo shoot for this project was totally nerve wracking. I had never photographed anything of the sort (despite wanting to) and I over-planned the entire shoot. There were so many wardrobe changes and locations with time constraints that it was all quite overwhelming.

As the shoot started in the hotel suite, I let my female model (who was a friend of my client) relax on the bed and started with several candid shots of her alone. Despite being stunning, she was a little shy at first… As I realized how beautifully she photographed, I let her see some of the best shots and she gradually lost all inhibition. By the end of the day I was six inches away from her as she climaxed and she hardly even knew I was there. Some shots were staged, and some involve more… realistic circumstance. It rode the very delicate line between artistic “studio nudes” and all out porn. I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience with erotic photography, and the pictures are proof of that.

Example Two: Driving home from the shoot with my stylist, (and dear friend) as well as my gorgeous male friend who had modeled for the “cocaine” shots, we found ourselves quite aroused from the events we had witnessed earlier that day. Sexual tensions were running very, very high and finally, without much provocation, they ended up in the back seat together as I attempted to keep my eyes on the road.

Back at the house, they began removing clothing, and being the voyer I am, I asked if I could photograph them. (Be aware that this is in NO WAY standard practice for professional photographers. I just have really open minded friends.) What ensued was far more carnal and raw than the planned session I had done only hours before. Being that both of them were close friends of mine, there was no tension or awkwardness to overcome, it was simply fluid. While it was not my original intention to use any of these photographs for my project, one or two of them have actually managed to make the cut. This would be a very extreme example of what I do, and far more on the “porn” side of the scope.

Example Three: After two quite sexually charged photo shoots, the third example is far closer to how I assume most professional erotic photographers operate. While the models were acquainted with each other, there was absolutely no sexual contact of any kind. All shots were meticulously planned and staged, and I feel as if that may come off too clearly in some of the shots. The ideas were less raw and more tender, and our female model is involved in a relationship with someone else. All of these factors led to a far tamer, far more business-like atmosphere.

I actually had really mixed feelings about the last shoot, only in the fact that there was very little room for creative interpretation. My client had a very clear idea how many of  the shots needed to look, and even staged several of them himself. While I really enjoyed knowing that we had gotten exactly what we needed, part of me longed for the shoots when clothes were flying and the passion was palpable. I have always preferred to capture photography, rather than create it.

So I feel like those three give you a pretty good spectrum of my experience. As for your specific questions… let’s take a look…

Does it take time for people to get comfortable enough for good shots?

It totally depends on the models. It’s really important to be VERY professional and to always be conscious of any concerns your models may have voiced to you. Communication is key, as in so many things.

Do you have strategies to put people at ease and get them into their zone?

First of all, you have to discuss your expectations with your models beforehand. Ask them about any concerns they have and make sure that you can accomodate them as best possible. If you are doing shots of couples, use REAL couple. Beautiful people love to be told they’re beautiful (even if not in vanity) and you would be surprised how many people would like to be photographed in their most intimate moments. Get to know your models as best you can in the time you have and make them feel at ease. (Letting them bring their favorite music to play during “sexy time” can also really help.)

Do you always feel relaxed in those moments?

Before I had actually done this once, I was a mess. I wondered if I would even be ale to concentrate. But after I got behind my lens, the entire world melted away and the people and acts before me were just more beautiful things to capture. I forget that people are even there… it’s just beauty. (That sounds far cornier than I had intended.)

I hope that ridiculously long rant answered your questions. If you don’t mind… let me throw a little advice out to anyone who is reading this and considering getting into “the business.”

1. GET CONTRACTS! I don’t care who your models are, or what you are using your photographs for, they need to sign a legally binding document before you shoot anything. Make sure you also have a copy of their driver’s license/passport on file with their contract to verify their age.

2. Don’t work for free and/or don’t sell yourself short. While I truly believe that TFP (Trade for Print) work is a great way to gain exposure and build a portfolio, you can’t do it for everyone. If you have a talent that others desire, you should be getting paid something for it.  Either set a flat hourly rate for your time or have a very detailed agreement written up with deadlines and payment schedules BEFORE you start any work. This not only keeps your client from stiffing you, but it keeps you from slacking off.

3. If you don’t want people to know you do it, don’t do it. This goes for both you AND your models. If you are worried about people knowing that this is what you do for a living, how can you gain the credit and exposure you deserve? Just the same, if your models don’t want to be seen naked, don’t photograph them. It’s that simple. This will, in ALL cases, come back to bit you in the ass. I, unfortunately, learned this lesson after it was too late to back out. Thus my anonymity.

Lastly…

4. Have Fun! How cliche is this? Very. Why am I saying it? Because the more tense and uptight you are, the more tense and uptight your models will be. You are getting paid to photograph beautiful people in beautiful positions… enjoy it dammit! People would die to do this!

And there you have it! more to come soon loves… I promise! ❤
